Terry Flynn joined U.S. Embassy Valletta as the Deputy Chief of Mission in August 2014.
Since joining the Department of State in 1999, Mr. Flynn has held a variety of positions. Most recently, he served as the Deputy Principal Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in St. Petersburg, Russia (2012-2014). Prior to his time in Russia, Mr. Flynn was the Narcotics Affairs Section (NAS) Director for U.S. Mission Brazil in Brasilia (2008-2011).
Mr. Flynn also has served overseas as Management Officer in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, General Services Officer in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Vice Consul in San Salvador, El Salvador. In Washington, Mr. Flynn worked as a Post Management Officer in the Executive Office of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
Before joining the Foreign Service, Mr. Flynn was a lawyer and worked as a judicial law clerk in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also taught high school in Nassau, Bahamas.
Mr. Flynn has a Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from St. John’s University. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian.
