United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Malta to Provide Training

Between July 20 and 23, 2009, officials from the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were in Malta to provide training in advanced undercover operations to over 30 representatives of the Malta Police forces.  The training was offered as part of an ongoing Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) program at the U.S. Embassy which aims to support the broad range of Malta Police responsibilities through equipment, training and information exchanges. The U.S. officials said they had been impressed with the level of experience and interaction shown by the Maltese participants during the training, and commented in particular on the exceptional capabilities, responsibilities and professionalism shown by the Maltese officers. Mr. Jason Davis, Charge’ d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy expressed his satisfaction at the excellent working relations between the U.S. Embassy and Malta’s Police, and reiterated the U.S. Government’s support for the important role Malta plays in providing security in the Mediterranean region.
