On Friday July 3, the U.S. Naval Forces Band “The Navigators” staged a public performance sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and the Pembroke Local Council in the Pembroke Parish Hall.  The band performed a mix of American jazz and pop arrangements with one member alternating between the flute and saxophone while the other three musicians played the accordion, piano and bass.  The enthusiastic audience actively participated in the lively and varied repertoire.  Following the concert, Pembroke Mayor Mr. Joe Zammit commented on the strong relationship between Malta and the United States and spoke of the importance of learning about each other’s history, culture and traditions.  On Sunday, July 5, “The Navigators” performed in the picturesque King George V Recreational Grounds in Floriana.  Mayor Nigel Holland expressed his appreciation for the U.S. Embassy’s efforts to engage the Maltese people in cultural and educational exchanges.
